WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
Beatbox Baby Raves are all about encouraging, inspiring and celebrating children’s self expression, through music and dance and having as much joy and fun as possible!!
Currently the only event of it’s kind in the UK!
We’ve been through a rough couple of years and I believe that it’s really important that we show our children that it’s not all doom and gloom, that life is fun, to be enjoyed and that it is safe to do so! It’s vital that we now give our children the platform to be able to go out there with all the confidence they need to express themselves with no holding back and be the fullest versions of themselves they can be. I help facilitate this by creating cool, improvised music using my voice (beatboxing) and a loop station, expressing myself to the fullest (showing them it’s ok to do this) and offering encouragement to the children as I go. I also often improvise little raps and rhymes incorporating things I see in the moment, which is fun. So, come with your little one(s) and enjoy a unique performance whilst spending precious bonding time together and meeting new and old friends in the process. As well as being great fun, this will be sowing seeds of creativity, freedom of expression, experimentation and a love for music- and will also be improving confidence and self esteem!
Little ones really relate to the organic sounds created by the voice and are enchanted, intrigued and inspired. They are in the moment, doing what comes naturally to them, which is dance, move, play, go with the flow and generally have a great time! I encourage parents to get up and let go and have a boogey and show their kids some of their dance moves! – as what is modelled to children by their parents is what children see as being possible for them as they grow up. So we want to show them it’s ok to fully express themselves and let go. And what a perfect excuse to have a little dance (not that we need one)… “oh I’m just doing it for the children” lol. I strongly believe that dancing is a fundamental need for for everyone, including us adults and it’s quite likely that humans danced before they were able to talk! I don’t know about you but when I haven’t danced for a while, I start to not feel right. When I was a kid, I remember seeing my Mum dancing so freely and expressively on the dance floor and it really made a big impact on me in terms of how freely I’m able able to express myself. That memory still inspires me to this day! That could be you inspiring your little one(s)!
When we let go and move how we truly want to move, it is healing for us and it energises and inspires others and creates amazing energy that is tangible! And it is particularly powerful when a child sees his parent(s) modelling this. Win Win! It is my intention that, in this way, we will create a unique and magical space together, have a beautiful time whilst creating community and this will set us up for the rest of the week! I look forward to seeing you there!!
WHAT IS BEATBOXING?
A vocal art form that uses the voice to mimic drum beats, instruments and other sound effects. I will be using a loop station which allows me to record and loop my voice to create original pieces of music.
WHAT TO BRING?
Bring anything you would usually take on a trip to the park. Glow sticks, costumes optional.
PARKING
There is usually some parking down this road and there is also some behind the church hall.
HYGIENE
The space is sanitised before we make use of it and we are not required to ask for Covid tests. Please show kindness to the community and if you are not well, wait until you are symptom free before coming to one of these events.
