Music In May 2024 saw over 160 live gigs, workshops, talks, networking events and a busking project.

We’ve put together a selection of highlights, from various events that took place throughout the month!

Music in May 2024 has now come to a close. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

But, Music is not just for May! We continue to work on projects and help champion Folkestone Music Town all year round.

Music In May 2024 Opening Party

The Folkestone Music Town Music In May 2024 Opening Party was a local extravaganza! 16 local singers each took the stage to perform to a packed Quarterhouse, backed by a house band, comprising a selection of local musicians. A family affair, the show featured performers and audience members of all ages.

ChiorOke


ChoirOke featured 8 different choirs. The event had an international feel, with performances from a Ukranian Choir and the Aronde Ensemble from France. Featuring performers of all ages, the audience were encouraged to participate and sing along!

Busking

The Busking Project gave 30 artists/bands the opportunity to entertain the pedestrian traffic around the town centre. A diverse range of music was heard, including a varied selection of musical instruments and voices, with all ages participating.

Workshops

The Workshop program offered 23 free workshops, facilitated by local experts and industry professionals. Covering a wide range of topics, participants were able to gain insight and knowledge, empowering their own musical journey and developing new skills.

Natural Voices - Songwriting Workshops

The Natural Voices workshops gave participants the opportunity to write a song inspired by their natural surroundings. With support from singer songwriter Sophia Stutchbury and music producer Tim Smith, songwriting sessions were hosted at Seaview Studio, where participants were also given the opportunity to record a demo of their song. The project culminated in a live performance showcase, where the nature-inspired songs were performed live to an audience at The Chambers.

Development ROADMAP

This platform is currently in open beta phase, and as such bugs and discrepancies will be present. We are working continually to resolve issues, improve user experience and add functionality.
