As a musician, I am currently playing around the world with artists such as Pulp, David Gilmour, Goldie, Melt Yourself Down, Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics, Squarepusher’s Shobaleader One, Moses Sumney, Hot Chip and many more. I have also recorded for most of those artists, and my drumming can also be heard on shows by Marvel, Star Wars, Netflix, BBC and computer games including the recent Suicide Squad from Rocksteady. I have taught and done masterclasses at the Royal College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, Bimm London, the Kings School in Canterbury among many others, alongside private lessons, and a lot of my teaching has been to try and help young musicians gain a sense of joy and groove in their performances. My range of experiences, from my personal growth as a musician, to my time as an educator, have helped me gain valuable insights into playing music as a band, and how to impart these insights at a wide range of levels. I use technology a lot in performance, as a creative tool in Colossal Squid and Three Trapped Tigers, and more as a performance tool with Pete Tong and Pulp. I’d like to spend some time showing how and why I use technology, how my knowlegde of electronic music became an essential element in my drum performance and how using a producers approach on the drum kit can be so helpful developing our own sound as a musician.
