A community concert band from Gravesend, established in 1880, comprising two ensembles each of around 30 amateur players of all ages.
The range of music the band plays is broad including concert band arrangements of symphonic pieces and overtures, music from Broadway and West End shows, film scores, easy listening, TV themes and arrangements of popular music.
Our conductor Alan Jones likes to put on a varied programme from Classical pieces like The Force of Destiny, from Verdi’s opera of the same name debuted in 1862 to the modern Choral and Rock out by Ted Huggens first performed in 1973, interspersed by such classics as Oliver with music by Lionel Bart.
Solo pieces include Misty- a trombone solo, Miss Marple, an oboe solo, The Lazy Trumpeter and Bring him Home vocal solo sung.
