Continuing the foundation laid by Dr Julia Jones, our board is comprised of a collective of local businesspeople, venue owners, and musicians, all of whom have a genuine passion for preserving and contributing to the continued growth and development of Folkestone’s status as ‘The World’s First Music Town‘.
We operate transparently, with frequent open public meetings, and invite open dialogue with all who wish to contribute to the town’s success.

Those with a keen eye will notice that we’ve had a new lick of paint recently! The Folkestone Music Town website is a free, community-sourced platform offering a wide range of tools and resources to Folkestone’s music community!
Community engagement is at the heart of this website, and everything that we do! From finding the latest gig listings, to forming bands, exchanging equipment or organizing a meetup, you can do it all on folkestonemusic.co.uk!
In conjunction with our new website launch in April 2025, we rolled out the first version of our Folkestone Music app, which offers a pocket guide to Folkestone Music Town – Find gigs and places on the go, and interact with the local music community!
Our website and app are in constant development, as we work to add and improve features. We’re always open to suggestions – Please do feel free to get in touch.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, our website is hosted in a 100% carbon-neutral datacenter by our partner, GMZ Digital, an independent, climate-positive organization who also further offset their day-to-day operations via tree-planting initiatives.
