Folkestone Music Town celebrated Music In May 2026 with another month-long fringe style festival, including live music events, jams, busking, educational workshops, meet-ups, talks and music video screening events. Over 220 events took place at over 35 locations across the town.
The Goods Yard on Folkestone’s Harbour Arm hosted the Music In May opening party, showing music videos from previous Music In May projects. Since 2024, Screen South has partnered with Folkestone Music Town CIC and Seaview Studio to offer the opportunity for 4 local musicians/bands/artists to work with local directors and film makers to create music videos, with professional support. During the event, these videos were shown on the big screen, with some of the featured artists performing live and giving interviews, in front of a packed audience.
6 choirs took part in the Choir’Oke event for Music In May 2025.
The family friendly event entertained the audience with classic songs and singalongs.

We are very grateful to our sponsors, funders, and donors without whom much of our work simply would not be possible!
Music Videos in May is a project run by Screen South in partnership with Seaview Studio & Folkestone Music Town CIC as part of the Music in May festival. It offers upcoming musicians the chance to have a professional music video created, and local directors their first chance to develop a music video concept and bring it forward. The videos are then filmed in 1 day and edited over 3 days. The project launched in 2024 and we are proud to bring you the final videos for 2026. ENJOY!
A new initiative for 2026 is The Quarter Sessions. Quarterhouse, Folkestone Music Town CIC, and Seaview Studio proudly host a music showcase, created to support local up-and-coming original artists.
Each night features five carefully selected acts, each performing a 20-minute set of their strongest original material. The aim is simple: to give emerging artists and bands a professional platform to perform, connect with new audiences, and grow.
The Rising Stars event gave the opportunity for 16-25 year olds to showcase their talent and perform live, with professional support, highlighting the local talent from the next generation, hosted by F51 Skatepark.
Folkestone attracts tourists from all over the world. Some people return to make regular visits. Others have relocated altogether! The Foreign Affair celebrated Folkestone’s international connections by inviting new friends and neighbours to come together for a live performance at Keppels Bar.
As part of Music In May festival, Folkestone Music Town hosted educational workshops in various music-related subjects, led by local professionals. Support from funders meant the workshops were free to attend, helping musicians in the community try new things and develop their existing skills.
To close out Music In May 2026, The Leas Bandstand was the ideal venue for a party. With the theme of Pirates, Seagulls and Mermaids, there were many costumes, face painting, Sea Shanties and, of course, live music performances from local bands and artists.
