In the Summer of 2024, Folkestone Music Town launched an exciting new initiative – Future Sound of Folkestone. This project is designed to enable and empower local artists/musicians by providing grants for new music events across the community. The first wave saw funding made available for six different events in six different locations. The events themselves ranged from exploring new spaces, providing opportunity for younger demographics, combining music with health & wellbeing, as well as supporting music genres which are under-represented.

The second wave provided grants to a further five events, continuing to explore a more diverse range of musical activities and offerings. This project continues to open up and develop opportunities for local artists, venues and promoters, while helping Folkestone Music Town CIC better understand how it can support the local scene.

As the project continues, the team seek further funding and partnership prospects while evaluating progress and engagement to help target efforts, education and funds in future.
