ARTIST INFORMATION
🪩 Yesterday’s Flowers 🪩
Yesterday’s Flowers make dreamy cosmic rock that basks in the golden glow of the early 60s California Sound – via their seaside home of Folkestone on the English channel. With shimmers of ethereal psychedelia, expect nostalgic chords, swelling organ and sun-drenched melodies; all served on a mesmeric rhythm section.
Since releasing their first three singles in 2023, the band have played sold-out shows from Folkestone to Liverpool, including a joint headliner with Congratulations (Bella Union) and SKIES at Folkestone’s Quarterhouse, a support slot for Austin noise-pop band, DAIISTAR (Fuzz Club) and their own headline EP release at St Mary and St Eanswythe’s Church, which saw them awarded Arts Council England funding.
Early radio support has come from BBC Radio 6 Music (The Huey Show) and BBC Music Introducing, as well as local stations from Folkestone to Montréal.
The band’s debut EP ‘There’s Only Love’ was released on Friday 13 December 2024, accompanied by a limited edition cassette which features an exclusive side of unreleased acoustic versions.
“Folkestone isn’t exactly known as a psychedelic hotbed, but Yesterday’s Flowers might change that perception. Lucy’s vocals float above Tom, Matt and Ollie’s instruments like some half-remembered dream you can’t shake off. They’ve been quietly building something special since 2023 – BBC 6 Music noticed, Arts Council money followed, and their December EP ‘There’s Only Love’ suggests they’re just getting started.” – Violette Records
“Yesterday’s Flowers are always making songs that just sound like timeless classics – WHAT a band” – Abbie McCarthy, BBC Music Introducing
