Our next talk is going to be something very special!
Susan Spain Dunk was born and grew up in Folkestone and taught music at Dover College. She had five of her pieces performed in what is now known as BBC Proms from 1924-27 (the latter being the BBC’s first year), but there is surprisingly little information available on her.
Her son, Rev. Alan Gibson MBE – vicar of Sandgate, gave the Society our very first talk. We are delighted to welcome Dave, Alan’s son, who is travelling all the way from Winchester to impart the family knowledge of his grandmother. You really don’t want to miss this one – it may not be repeated!
Join us on Wednesday 6 August at the Holy Trinity Church hall, Sandgate Road. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Admission is £3 (free to Society members). PLEASE NOTE: the event is in the hall, not the Church!
Refreshments will be served during the intermission, there will be a raffle and a selection of local history books will be available to purchase on the bookstall.
