Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage

“Spellbinding… Hannah and Ben were born to play and sing together”
– FRoots

Huddled round a single #microphone, #singing intimate #duets with just mountain #dulcimer, #dobro and #guitar, Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage are an #acousticduo that sound #classically timeless, yet their #music is unique.
Since emerging in 2016, the duo recorded two studio albums, Before the Sun (2016) and Awake (2018), produced by award winning producer David Travers-Smith in Toronto. Both albums have gathered praise for the craft and skill of their musical writing and arranging.

“Awesome… a supremely divine album”
-Americana UK

The duo have #toured the UK, North America and mainland Europe, enrapturing audiences at shows and on #festival #stages with the sparkling beauty of their #acoustic style.

“Dreamy reveries, softly warm vocals, stirring guitar arrangements – Sanders & Savage wield an elusive sort of magic”

They have shared stages and opened shows for #Americana and #folk luminaries such as Sarah Jarosz, Martin Simpson, Seth Lakeman and Oh Susanna. Fleetingly, they may evoke a memory of Gram & Emmylou, Shirley & Davey, or Gillian & David but their distilling of musical influences from both sides of the Atlantic produces a refined sound that is decidedly their own.

“An exquisite soundscape, which is the result of passion, precision and unbridled intimacy” ★★★★★
-R2 Magazine

Their unique unplugged presentation creates a widescreen, cinematic soundscape with open spaces and atmosphere, giving their beautifully pure vocals room to share the songs’ emotion and narrative.

“This is folk music for everyone – a master-class in proficiency, an exercise in individuality and a declaration of love of the folk tradition from both sides of the Atlantic” ★★★★★
Spiral Earth

The material is as joyful and fun as it is intense, but the common factor is the duo’s warmth and confidence in each other; their natural ease and connection is clearly evident on the recorded music, and a genuine pleasure to witness on stage.

“A stream of brilliant music – they should be rated among the elite when it comes to UK folk”
-Rob Ramsey, Maverick

“Listening to this record is a form of meditation, with all its benefits. Sanders has a voice of such sparkling clarity that soars above and dips around Savage’s dobro and their harmonies are exquisite”
-Lyndon Bolton, No Depression

“I’ve loved Hannah Sanders’ voice since first listen and Ben Savage is a master musician. they are both deep in to the soul of their music. I think this album is the best thing they’ve done”
-Mike Harding Folk Show

“This is one of the albums of the year as far as I’m concerned – what a very fine sound they make – they’ve produced a fabulous album”
-Frank Hennessey, BBC Wales

“It has all the intimacy and intensity of closely watching a master craftsman working fine jewelry. I could list the songs and map out each with the necessary superlatives – but really you should just go and see them. I have to insist on that. It’s folk music – it has the heritage and the songs evident – but it has a quality and depth to the arrangements and performance that means it easily transcends the constraints of any preconceptions”
-From the Margins

“Their performance is perfectly honed, faultlessly presented and demonstrates that they are clearly a match made in musical heaven. The songs are filled with messages of hope and promise, all delivered in a stripped down sound, which takes you on a journey into the minds of this duo… The dynamic between the duo is electric and their eclectic mix of music is refreshing, we were treated to new tracks from their album as well as their own favourites”
-The Atkinson, Southport

“Blessed with a peerlessly pure voice… Catch her while you can!” ★★★★
-The Express

“A confident and impressive sophomore album that not only fully justifies past predictions regarding Sanders trajectory in the current folk field but also marks the arrival of a significant new duo force”

HUSH Folkestone present: Geoff Muldaur. + Nina Clark

Making a rare visit to the UK, Geoff Muldaur is one of the great #voices and #musical forces to emerge from the #folk #blues and #folkrock scenes centred in #Cambridge, #MA and #Woodstock, #NY.

During the 1960’s and ’70’s, he made a series of highly influential recordings as a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Paul Butterfield’s Better Days, as well as collaborations with his then-wife Maria and many others such as Bonnie Raitt and Jerry Garcia.

Many of the biggest names on the scene are fans of the man.

Bonnie Raitt says that he has always been one of her favourites and in a recent interview, Richard Thompson said: “There are only three great white blues singers and Geoff Muldaur is at least two of them.”

Talking after a recent ‘live’ performance, John Sebastian said: “The Lovin’ Spoonful’s favourite singer went and got better,” while Loudon Wainwright III is on record as stating: “Geoff Muldaur was and is one of my musical heroes.”

Geoff has found us a date on this tour. Come and spend some time with him in the intimate setting that is upstairs at the Eleto Chocolate Cafe

Geoff will be supported by the very wonderful #Folkestone based #SingerSongwriter Nina Clark Music.

This is a hushed concert so you can really enjoy the concert to its fullness.

Dean Owens And The Southerners W/Jack Pound

I’m delighted to welcome back to Kent for the THIRD time my friend and fellow countryman Dean Owens with his band The Southerners who are currently on tour following Deans return from a well recieved trip to The States and in support we have another class songwriter local troubadour the inimitable Jack Pound.

Dean Owens & The Southerners
Award winning Scottish troubadour Dean Owens with the Southerners – 2018 Instrumentalist of the Year (AMA-UK Awards) Tom Collison and guitarist Jim Maving.

Dean is widely hailed as one of Scotland’s finest singer songwriters, with fans including author Irvine Welsh and BBC legend “Whispering” Bob Harris. Following his recent “UK Song of the Year” win at AMA-UK Awards for his song Southern Wind (the title track of his most recent 4 and 5 star reviewed album), he is delighted to be teaming up with Tom and Jim for a short tour,

Armed with a searingly soulful voice, skilfully crafted songs and earworm-generating melodies, Dean is a spellbinding and hugely engaging live performer. Dean’s music conjures the open road’s wild romanticism, the legacy of the open plains drifters and box-car jumpers, the copper burn of a single malt or a smoky late night bar-room bourbon, distilling the Scottish and Americana into a unique blend of Celtic spirit, country soul.

A Dean Owens gig isn’t just about the songs, though, as Dean is also a witty raconteur, with anecdotes about his travels and the backgrounds to the music – from an 8 album solo career and his days fronting Scotland’s original Americana band, the Felsons – peppered throughout the set. His performance crosses genres, as he takes his audience from tears to laughter to rocking out in the course of just a few songs.

A little bit country, a little bit rock and soul…  Mojo
his songwriting craft can stand proudly with the best around… albums like this don’t come around too often… FATEA

Jack Pound
Many singer/songwriters shine in the spotlight, many more have been heralded, but few can match the uncompromising, quality of work Jack Pound has produced over the years.
In the past Jack has been compared to various artists such as Big Bill Broonzy, Mark Knofler and Guy Clark – In reality Jack is simply himself and against all prevailing musical trends has established himself as a low key, songwriting phenomenon.
A quirky, sophisticated, constantly innovative original with a veritable soundtrack to a cinema of songs.
Pete Brown – Annexe Music
Jack Pound is well known for his tireless and multitudinous careers as musician, cabaret entrepreneur, jobbing builder, local man about town, and on occasion, though hard to credit, a lifeguard…A highly skilled guitarist and songwriter, his bluesy, often quirky style is particularly appreciated by discerning literary audiences…whilst the rest of us just enjoy the music. – John Rice, Poet – South East Arts

Jack Pound is an experienced musician and a busy and enthusiastic exponent of live music. In addition to supporting and/or working with such diverse talents as John Cooper Clarke, Robert Plant, Lianne Carroll, Maiuko Fi and Martin Carthy, he has received complimentary critique from the Music, Arts and Literary Press. – Simon Evans. Author /BBC Broadcaster
… funny, serious, sometimes perplexing, sometimes clear. His astonishing individual style stretches across all manner of parameters. – Colin Irwin. Mojo
